Mr.Fryday’s biological father, Albert Fryday, a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, later retired to work in the probation service field where he worked until the time of his death in 1971. Mr. Fryday’s Stepfather, Orville Duncan (deceased) was also a retired member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Mr.Fryday’s mother, Margery Duncan has been involved for a number of years in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Veteran’s Ladies Association who assist charities in the community. She is the mother of eight children and a retired Registered Nurse. In 1973, after graduating from The University of King’s College, Mr.Fryday obtained a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Social Science. In October 1973 he obtained employment in the Provincial Criminal Justice Department in the field of Probation, specializing in working with youth and their families in conflict with the law. Mr.Fryday has written articles for the Restorative Justice Program, formerly known as the Youth Alternative Society. Mr.Fryday has also lectured at Dalhousie University and Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and extensively in Junior and Senior High Schools on a range of topics involving issues on Bullying, effects of crime on victims, matters pertaining to the Youth Court System, and on various subjects relating to youth in conflict with the law. Mr.Fryday is a respected member of the Probation Service and has received numerous written commendations during his career from Judges, Crown Attorneys, Defense Attorneys, Provincial Department Officials, and numerous thanks from parents, youth and students. On October 8, 2003, Mr.Fryday will enter his 30th year of Service to the Provincial Criminal Justice Department in the field of Probation.
